Clothing ministry
Kumler Outreach Ministries' clothing ministry fills the gap for people trying to stretch their budgets. Stocked entirely by donations, the clothing ministry includes adult and children's clothes, shoes, books, magazines and household items.
Depending on the time of year and the kind of donations received, there may also be seasonal items, such as Christmas trees and ornaments, children's toys and games or warm blankets for winter.
Open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to noon, the clothing ministry is organized and staffed by volunteers who help people find what they need and answer their questions.
Personal hygiene items are available Wednesdays and Thursdays and may include shampoo, soap, razors, deodorant, toilet paper, toothpaste and toothbrushes. Availability varies as all are donations to Kumler Outreach Ministries and not part of the budget.
The clothing ministry also tries to keep on hand "fire kits" to help victims of fire get back on their feet. The kits can include towels, sheets, dishes, pots and pans and other necessary household items.
Donations to the clothing ministry are greatly appreciated and may be dropped off at the Outreach Center, 303 N. Grand Ave. East, Springfield, Illinois, Monday through Friday, preferably between 9 a.m. and noon.
